What is the Guringai Festival?
The Gurringai festival is a special event/festival to recognise our country's
indigenous people and to raise awareness for those living in the Northern Sydney
Region. The festival involves 11 councils and numerous reconciliation groups.
Events include workshops, art, exhibitions, performances, films, talks and much
more!
Last year the Australian Constitution was explored and also the
acknowledgement of the first people of Australia which provided the festival
theme for this year ‘One Voice- Still Talking'. We are working towards
addressing the unfinished business in this country and the Gurringai Festival is
a way to do so.
The Gurringai Festival takes place on the 26th of May until the 8th of July. There are activities and events held at many different suburbs and councils to help celebrate this event. The whole nation is brought together to recognise the first people of our country and to recognise those who still live here.
